Philanthropist’s Generosity Enhances Healthcare at Nkawie-Toase Hospital

The Nkawie-Toase Government Hospital, a leading healthcare facility in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, has received a significant donation of sanitary items and other consumables worth 10,000 cedis from Mr. Akwasi Agyemang and his wife, owners of Man Man Company Limited.

This generous contribution was made to the hospital’s Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) on November 21, 2025, as part of the celebrations for this year’s Preterm Day.

The donated items include essential supplies such as baby diapers, wipes, mosquito nets, beverages, and water, as well as payment of outstanding bills.

This act of kindness is not new from the philanthropist and his wife, who last year donated a Fire Fly phototherapy machine worth 65,000 cedis to the hospital. This state-of-the-art equipment, rare in the region, is used to treat babies with severe jaundice and has significantly improved the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare to newborns.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital management, Mrs. Catherine Agyemang, a Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Agyemang and his wife for their unwavering support. She highlighted that the donation of the Fire Fly phototherapy machine has reduced the hospital’s reliance on referrals to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and other advanced health facilities for specialized care. “Thanks to this equipment, babies are no longer being transferred due to unavailability of treatment options,” Mrs. Agyemang noted, urging other affluent individuals to follow the example set by the Agyemangs in contributing to the betterment of healthcare in their communities.

The celebration of Preterm Day at the hospital served as a poignant reminder of the critical need for continued support and investment in maternal and child health services.

The preterm, referring to babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed, requires specialized care to ensure their survival and well-being. Donations like those from Mr. Agyemang and his wife play a vital role in bridging the gap in healthcare provision, especially in resource-constrained settings.

The hospital management and staff are hopeful that this gesture will inspire others to contribute to the noble cause of enhancing healthcare delivery in the region. By working together, it is possible to create a healthier and more prosperous community for all.
