A member of the National Democratic Congress Communications Team, Abdulai Sakra Alhassan, has thrown his support behind President John Dramani Mahama’s latest ministerial reshuffle, expressing confidence that newly appointed Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei will bring renewed energy and reforms to his ministry.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s PrimeMorning on Monday, 10th August 2026, Mr. Alhassan described Mr. Adjei as both calm and industrious, and urged him to build on the foundation laid by the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.

‘A Calm Gentleman And A Workaholic’
Commenting on the reshuffle, Mr. Alhassan praised the President’s decision and highlighted the qualities he believes make Mr. Adjei fit for the role.
“Kenneth Gilbert Adjei is a calm gentleman, but he’s also a workaholic,” Mr. Alhassan said.

“I wish him all the best, and I know he will improve the ministry.”
He added that the new minister’s reputation for diligence and focus will be crucial as government works to deliver on its promises to Ghanaians.
Call To Continue Reforms Started By Late Omane Boamah
Mr. Alhassan also charged the new minister to sustain and expand key policy initiatives introduced by his predecessor.
“I hope he will build on the reforms the late Edward Omane Boamah started,” he stated.

Dr. Omane Boamah, who passed away earlier this year, was widely credited for initiating structural reforms aimed at improving service delivery and accountability within the sector. Mr. Alhassan said continuity in those efforts would be vital to ensuring stability and progress.
The comments come in the wake of President Mahama’s ministerial changes, which the NDC has described as part of efforts to reposition government for improved performance ahead of the next phase of its administration.
Members of the party’s communications team have in recent days been engaging the public to explain the rationale behind the reshuffle and to rally support for the new appointees.

Mr. Alhassan’s endorsement adds to growing voices within the party calling for unity and support for the new ministerial team as they settle into office.
Political observers note that the reshuffle is expected to inject fresh ideas into government while maintaining continuity in key policy areas.
With Ghanaians looking out for tangible results in service delivery, job creation, and governance, the performance of new ministers like Mr. Adjei will be closely watched in the coming months.
