Aspiring Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Nkansah Ababio, popularly known as Commander Acid, has officially filed his nomination to contest for the party’s regional youth leadership position ahead of the NPP’s internal elections.

The former Ahafo Ano South West Youth Organizer submitted his forms at the Ashanti Regional Party Office in Kumasi on Wednesday, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested race for the youth wing.
Addressing journalists after the filing, Commander Acid said his decision to contest was motivated by a commitment to rebuild the party’s youth base and deepen grassroots mobilization across the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
He noted that the youth remain the driving force of any political organization and must be equipped, engaged, and empowered to deliver electoral victory.

“I am in this race to provide transformational leadership for the youth wing. The NPP’s strength has always been at the grassroots, and we need to go back to that foundation, re-energize our structures, and bring more young people on board,” he stated.
Commander Acid promised to introduce innovative youth engagement programs aimed at training, mentoring, and deploying young party members in campaign and organizational roles ahead of the next general election.
Call for Unity and Delegate Support
The aspirant appealed to delegates and party faithful to rally behind his campaign, positioning himself as a unifier who understands the challenges facing young party members at the constituency level.
Drawing a biblical reference, he described himself as the “David” sent to help restore the NPP’s electoral dominance in the Ashanti Region.
“I believe God has positioned me at this time to serve the party and the youth. With your support, we can work together to strengthen our base and ensure that the NPP remains the party of choice for young people in Ashanti,” he said.
46-Seat Ambition and Support for Dr. Bawumia
Commander Acid expressed optimism that with effective mobilization and internal unity, the NPP could increase its parliamentary fortunes in the region.
He set an ambitious target of winning 46 out of the 47 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region for the party in the next general election.
He also pledged that his administration would prioritize recruiting more young people into party activities and rallying support for the presidential ambition of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The youth must be at the center of our campaign. We will create platforms for them to contribute meaningfully and to see themselves as stakeholders in Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana,” he added.
The NPP is expected to hold its Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer election in the coming weeks as part of its broader internal reorganization ahead of 2028.
Party officials say the regional youth leadership will play a critical role in voter registration drives, polling station operations, and digital campaigning.
Delegates across the region will now begin consultations as aspirants intensify their campaigns.
