Stanbic Bank Ghana Holds Financial Wellness Workshop for Ashanti Journalists, Donates Laptops

Stanbic Bank Ghana has organised a Financial Wellness Workshop for journalists in the Ashanti Region as part of efforts to strengthen financial literacy within the media fraternity.

The workshop, held in Kumasi, brought together media practitioners from print, radio, television, and online platforms. Sessions covered personal financial management, investment planning, retirement preparation, debt management, and digital banking tools.

Facilitators from the bank took participants through practical approaches to budgeting, saving, and building long-term financial security. The engagement also highlighted the role of financial literacy in enhancing professional independence and decision-making.

As part of its support to the media, Stanbic Bank Ghana donated five laptops to selected journalists during the event. The bank said the donation is intended to aid reporters in their day-to-day work, including research, filing of stories, and digital content creation.

Speaking at the workshop, officials of Stanbic Bank noted that the media plays a critical role in shaping public understanding of financial issues. Equipping journalists with both knowledge and tools, they said, helps improve the quality of financial reporting and promotes broader economic literacy.

The Ashanti Region workshop forms part of Stanbic Bank’s ongoing stakeholder engagement and corporate social investment initiatives. The bank has, in recent years, rolled out financial literacy programmes targeting various groups, including SMEs, students, and professional bodies.

Participants commended the bank for the initiative, describing the training as timely and relevant to their personal and professional development. They also welcomed the laptop donation as a practical step toward enhancing newsroom efficiency.

Stanbic Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the media and deepening financial wellness education across the country.
