The Founder and Leader of Pillar of Zion Church International, Evangelist Akwasi Awuah, has urged Christians to place greater emphasis on spiritual nourishment, saying the only food that guarantees eternal life is the Word of God.

Speaking during Sunday service on July 19, Evangelist Awuah cautioned believers against focusing solely on physical needs to the neglect of their souls.
“Respect Your Soul”
Addressing the congregation, he said Christians must not rely on food that perishes, but rather seek sustenance that endures.

“Let’s respect our souls,” he told the church. “God gave His life for our souls, not the flesh. Do not depend on food that gets spoiled, is slimy, rotten and expired — fufu, banku, ampesie and the rest. Those feed the body, but only the Word feeds the soul.”
He noted that while physical food is necessary, it is temporary, whereas the Word of God provides life that lasts beyond this world.

Call To Value The Word
Evangelist Awuah expressed concern that many Christians today are more interested in “food for the flesh” than “food for the soul.”
He said some believers, including members of other congregations, tune in to Akwasi Awuah TV to receive biblical teaching, while some of his own church members prefer stations that do not offer spiritual edification.
“From Genesis to the end,” he quoted, stressing that the entire Bible is meant to nourish and guide believers.
He charged Christians not to neglect scripture, warning that neglecting the Word weakens faith and leaves the soul empty.
Message To Church Leadership
The Pillar of Zion leader also spoke to junior pastors, urging them to uphold biblical authority and unity in ministry.
He cited the example of the early Apostles, saying: “None of the Apostles challenged Peter. None of the disciples challenged Jesus Christ. That is the order we must respect in the house of God.”
He added that Pillar of Zion Church International remains committed to delivering undiluted biblical teaching.
“For Pillar of Zion, we give you the Word of God without dilution,” Evangelist Awuah stated.
Congregation Response
Members of the congregation received the message with prayers and worship, with many pledging to commit more time to Bible study and devotion.
