DCE OF AHAFO ANO SOUTH WEST VISITS B.E.C.E CENTRES, PLEDGES SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENTS

The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has visited B.E.C.E centres across the district to encourage candidates and reaffirm his commitment to academic excellence.

The tour, conducted on Monday, May 4, 2026, covered three of the five examination centres in the district. It was part of a broader effort to motivate candidates to remain confident, focused, and composed during the examination period.

Addressing students at the centres, Hon. Sedik urged them to trust in their preparation and approach each paper with determination.

He also renewed his pledge to award full scholarships to candidates who achieve Grade Six, expressing hope that this year’s results will reflect significant improvement across the district.

A total of 1,463 candidates are sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination at five centres in Ahafo Ano South West.

According to the DCE, the exercise has proceeded smoothly so far, with no reported cases of examination malpractice.

To support both candidates and examination officials, Hon. Sedik donated 20 cartons of bottled water and 10 cartons of assorted drinks. He also presented GH¢10,000 to cover meals for invigilators and supervisors, with GH¢2,000 allocated to each of the five centres.

Stakeholders have described the gesture as timely and impactful. They said the support helps create a conducive environment for the conduct of the exams.

The District Education Director, Mr. Justin Kwesi Gbotor, confirmed that the examinations have been running without incident. He said candidates and officials reported early to their centres, which contributed to orderly conduct across the district.

Mr. Gbotor advised students to rely on their preparation and avoid any form of malpractice.

Examination supervisor Rev. Michael Anane also praised the discipline and cooperation shown by both candidates and officials. He noted that the availability of all necessary materials has further ensured a hitch-free process.
