“You Brought Shame To Ghana”: Apostle St. Sark Blasts Prophets Over World Cup Prophecies

The Leader of Open Arms Ministry, Apostle St. Sark, has condemned what he described as “shameful and misleading” prophecies by some Ghanaian prophets regarding the just-ended 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying the episode has brought ridicule to the Christian community in Ghana.

Speaking to journalists in a press conference held in Kumasi, Apostle St. Sark said he earlier cautioned the media before the tournament not to give prominence to prophecies about football, because “our God does not involve Himself in football” but they didn’t listened.

“Before the FIFA World Cup 2026, I warned journalists that our God doesn’t involve Himself in football so they shouldn’t entertain these so-called fake prophets,” he said. “Unfortunately, we witnessed very sad and terrible fake prophecies from these prophets.”

The man of God singled out the visit of Sports Minister Kofi Adams to Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, leader of the Philadelphia Movement, during the period of the tournament.

“I personally questioned the Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, who went to Stephen Adom Kyei Duah, the leader of the Philadelphia Movement,” Apostle St. Sark stated. “You brought a huge shame onto the Ghanaian community.”

He argued that the failed predictions had damaged the credibility of the church and given critics reason to mock Christianity.

“Our Comedians Are Better Than These Fake Prophets”

In a blunt comparison, Apostle St. Sark said the country would have been better served promoting entertainment personalities instead of what he called false prophets.

“Most of our comedians, the likes of Agya Koo, Santo, Nkomode, Koofori and the rest are very good than these fake prophets,” he said.

“Which spiritual realm were they talking about?” he quizzed, challenging the prophets to explain the source of their predictions that did not come to pass.

Apostle St. Sark urged church leaders and the media to exercise greater discernment and stop platforming individuals who use prophecy for publicity. He said the church must focus on messages that transform lives, promote unity, and uphold the integrity of the gospel rather than chasing headlines with predictions about sports and politics.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, concluded last week with several Ghanaian prophets having made public predictions about the tournament and Ghana’s involvement. Many of those prophecies failed to materialize, sparking public debate and criticism on social media.

Apostle St. Sark’s comments add to the growing conversation about the role of prophecy in public life and the need for accountability among religious leaders.
