The survivors, who are traders, are currently receiving medical care at the hospital.

The visit was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to showing compassion, solidarity, and unwavering support to Ghanaian citizens affected by insecurity within the sub-region. Hon. Julius Debrah reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of all citizens, particularly in moments of crisis. “This government stands firmly with every Ghanaian, both at home and abroad,” he said. “We share in your pain, and we will ensure that you receive the needed support to recover fully.”

The President and his delegation also held discussions with medical personnel at the facility, commending them for their professionalism and dedication in providing critical healthcare services to the victims. President Mahama announced that the state would fully cover the medical expenses of the survivors and provide additional assistance to aid their recovery process.

Chief Julius Debrah emphasized that the government remains committed to strengthening regional security collaboration to protect Ghanaian citizens, especially traders and travelers who operate across borders within West Africa.
