MTN Ghana has launched its 2025 Sustainability Week, signaling a bold shift from corporate responsibility to climate leadership. The initiative, themed “Sustainability, Our Collective Responsibility: Driving Impact, Deepening Commitment,” aims to rally every sector of society to join the fight for a resilient and inclusive future.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer Adwoa Wiafe emphasized that sustainability is no longer an optional layer of MTN’s business, but the engine of its long-term strategy.
She noted that the timing of the event, coinciding with the opening of COP30 in Brazil, underscores the importance of local corporate action in achieving global climate ambition.

MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett highlighted the company’s progress in its four ESG pillars, including surpassing 40% female representation in its workforce and transitioning major facilities to solar power. He described these achievements as early steps in MTN’s mission to reach Net Zero by 2040.
Government representatives, including Cedric Dzelu of the Ministry of Climate Change and Sustainability, praised MTN for treating sustainability as a strategic imperative rather than a PR gesture. Dzelu noted that national progress depends on stronger public-private collaboration.

The launch included a symbolic gesture of inclusion, with MTN donating electric wheelchairs to two staff members living with disabilities. This exemplifies the human-centered approach the company hopes to model.
As Sustainability Week unfolds, MTN Ghana aims to spark dialogue, encourage responsible behavior, and rally partners toward a shared vision: a greener, more inclusive, and future-ready Ghana.
