The Chief Executive Officer of Alhaji and Madina Company Limited, Alhaji Aliu Salisu, has strongly denied allegations linking him to the recent fire outbreak at the Amakom Market in Kumasi, describing the claims as baseless and hurtful.
In an exclusive interview, Mr. Salisu dismissed speculations that he deliberately engineered the burning of the market to pave the way for reconstruction works allegedly awarded to his company.

Mr. Salisu questioned the logic behind such an act, citing his family and religious beliefs. “I have a wife and children. I have a family. Why should I cause harm to people’s property, render them jobless, and then go home to enjoy life with my family?” he asked.
As a Muslim, he understands the spiritual consequences of wrongdoing and invoked his faith to emphasize his innocence.

The construction magnate expressed shock at the speed at which the allegations spread, warning that those peddling such lies would face divine judgment. He provided clarity on the history of the Amakom Market redevelopment project, revealing that the reconstruction contract was awarded to him several years ago.
Despite the controversy, Mr. Salisu expressed sympathy for traders who suffered losses, acknowledging the severe economic hardship the incident imposed on affected families.
He called on the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow investigations to take their proper course.

The Amakom Market fire has sparked widespread public debate, with calls for thorough investigations to determine its cause and prevent similar incidents. Mr. Salisu maintains his commitment to ethical business practices and contributing positively to national development.
