The proposed appointment of an NPP sympathiser as CEO of GRIDCo is expected to spark protests.

There is a lot of tension inside the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) because employees and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are opposed to the idea of Ing. Mark Baah, a known supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), being the company’s Ag. CEO.

Mr. Baah was only three months away from retirement when his first appointment as CEO in 2021 was withdrawn due to internal NPP competition.

However, he is now being considered for the top position once more during the NDC regime.

“Why should it be the NDC’s duty to appease an NPP supporter over something that his own Party forced upon him?”.

Concerns have been raised by this action by GRIDCo employees and some NDC supporters, who contend that there are competent applicants for the role who are connected with the NDC.

Critics blame a prominent member of the NDC who is supposedly using his position to support Mr. Baah’s selection even though he supports the NPP.

Some are questioning the NDC leader’s motivations, arguing that he is putting common corporate interests ahead of Party allegiance.

The NDC party’s leadership has been urged to reconsider the proposed appointment, and the staff is hoping that they would listen.

Employees have voiced their displeasure with that intention, stressing that the energy sector shouldn’t be exposed to potential sabotage, which may bring back Dumsor to make our great Party unpopular once more, by selecting an individual with close relations to the NPP.
