St. Sark Blasts Mahama Over Galamsey Comments, Urges Decisive Action

The founder and leader of Open Arms Ministry, St. Sark, has strongly criticized President Mahama over his comments on galamsey, describing them as misguided and unacceptable. St. Sark emphasized that illegal miners are “wicked people” and “God’s enemies,” who are destroying the country’s environment and undermining its economic future.

St. Sark referenced President Mahama’s previous campaign promise to deal with the galamsey menace within a month if elected. He questioned why President Mahama has not taken decisive action to fight galamsey, despite his earlier assurances. “You’ve made a U-turn on your words,” St. Sark lamented, urging the government to declare a state of emergency to tackle the issue.

St. Sark suggested that the government should use drones to fight galamsey. “Let’s fight the galamsey with drones on the various sites, the drones will shoot and kill you if you dare go to the site, that’s what will help end the fight on galamsey,” he said. This approach, he argued, would be an effective way to curb the menace.

St. Sark also criticized President Mahama’s assertion that galamsey creates more jobs than agriculture. He highlighted the importance of agriculture to Ghana’s economy, noting that farmers contribute almost 70% to the country’s GDP. St. Sark emphasized that farmers struggle to make ends meet and feed their families, while galamsey operators destroy the environment and undermine the country’s economic future.

St. Sark lamented the devastating impact of galamsey on Ghana’s environment, particularly the destruction of rivers and streams.

He urged President Mahama to take immediate action to address the issue and protect the country’s natural resources. The government, he argued, has a responsibility to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for all Ghanaians.

St. Sark’s criticism of President Mahama’s stance on galamsey reflects the growing concern among Ghanaians about the issue.

The government is under pressure to take decisive action to address the menace and protect the country’s environment and economy. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether the government will take concrete steps to tackle the issue.
