The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong warning to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer aspirant, to desist from spreading falsehoods to Ghanaians.
The group expressed their displeasure and discontentment with some of Dr. Acheampong’s claims in the ongoing NPP flagbearership campaign.
The group leveled several allegations against Dr. Bryan Acheampong, including:
1. Conflict of Interest and the SSNIT Hotels Controversy: The attempted acquisition of majority shares in SSNIT hotels by Dr. Bryan Acheampong while serving as a Minister of State constituted a serious breach of public trust and a major contributive factor to the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
2. Mismanagement of the Agricultural Sector: The group accused Dr. Acheampong of failing to properly manage the agricultural sector, leading to widespread disaffection among farmers, low food production, and productivity.
3.Undemocratic Tendencies: Dr. Acheampong’s statement suggesting that the NPP would not hand over power after the December 2024 elections was described as reckless, irresponsible, and dangerously undemocratic.
4. Risk of Public Rejection and Electoral Defeat: The group warned that if Dr. Acheampong emerges as the flagbearer, the party risks mass defections, voter apathy, and widespread disillusionment.
The Ashanti NPP Youth Organizers called on the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Council, and all Delegates of the NPP to take their concerns seriously. They urged the party to protect its soul and integrity by rejecting leadership that embodies controversy and self-interest.
The group announced their endorsement of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best person to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections. They cited Dr. Bawumia’s integrity, humility, competence, and inclusiveness as qualities that make him the ideal candidate.
