The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP) has taken a significant step towards empowering Ghana’s youth through the Adwumawura programme, a flagship initiative of President John Dramani Mahama. The programme aims to redefine entrepreneurship and innovation by supporting young Ghanaians to create sustainable businesses.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Lawyer Joan Selasie Ahiawordor, has toured various centres of Adwumawura Programme in Kumasi to engage with beneficiaries of the programme.

According to her, the Adwumawura programme is more than just funding and training; it’s about creating an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive and drive sustainable development.

“We received over 100,000 applications for the maiden cohort, and through a transparent process, we selected 10,000 youth entrepreneurs to benefit from the programme,” Lawyer Ahiawordor said.
“The programme is designed to support 10,000 youth-owned businesses, and we are committed to ensuring that our beneficiaries have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.”

The programme has received a significant boost with an additional investment of 60 million Ghana Cedis from President John Dramani Mahama. “I reminded beneficiaries that while this opportunity offers support, the responsibility to succeed lies in their commitment and ethics,” Lawyer Ahiawordor emphasized.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, praised President John Dramani Mahama for his vision in launching the Adwumawura programme. “This programme is a timely intervention aimed at curbing unemployment in the country,” he said. “I urge beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity and ensure that the programme is a success.”
Dr. Amoakohene also noted that the programme has helped build links among beneficiaries, creating a network of young entrepreneurs who can support and learn from each other.
The Adwumawura programme is a testament to President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to empowering Ghana’s youth and promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the country. With the support of NEIP and other stakeholders, the programme is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of young Ghanaians and contribute to the country’s economic development.
