The Offinso North District Chief Executive, Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, has officially broken ground for the construction of the Mantukwa CHPS Compound, a much-needed healthcare facility aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare services in the Offinso North District.
At the ceremony, Hon. Acheampong expressed his appreciation to Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II for his dedication and service to the community. He also acknowledged the people of Mantukwa for their loyalty to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, highlighting the party’s contributions to the area’s development.
“We brought electricity to Mantukwa, built schools, and we will continue to improve access to quality healthcare,” Hon. Acheampong stated. He added that the NDC government plans to construct two hospitals annually to boost healthcare in the Offinso North District.
The DCE assured Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II of the government’s support and pledged that officials would work closely with the traditional leader. He also urged the contractor to prioritize local employment to address unemployment in the area.
“This project will bring hope to Mantukwa and surrounding communities,” Hon. Acheampong said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining the facility and providing quality healthcare services.
District Health Director Richard Avagu highlighted the challenges faced by residents, particularly pregnant women, in accessing healthcare services. “The construction of this CHPS Compound is a timely intervention,” Avagu said, expressing hope that it would improve healthcare delivery and reduce maternal mortality.
Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II, who has a personal connection to Mantukwa, thanked the government for the project and warned against the sale of community lands, emphasizing that they were secured for development purposes.
The construction of the Mantukwa CHPS Compound is expected to significantly improve healthcare services in the Offinso North Constituency and beyond.
