A Malawian delegation has lauded Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang, Founder of HEPA Plus, for his groundbreaking work in establishing a 20-acre organic medicinal plant farm, setting a new standard for herbal medicine production in Africa.

The delegation, comprising pharmacists and lecturers from the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), visited the farm and production facilities of Ebenage Herbal Productions and Consult, expressing admiration for Dr. Agyemang’s commitment to quality and scientific rigor.

The Malawian team, led by Dr. John Mponda, was impressed by the farm’s adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the production facilities’ strict quality control measures.

Dr. Mponda praised Dr. Agyemang’s decision to cultivate medicinal plants free from pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, calling it a “revolutionary contribution” to Ghana’s herbal medicine sector.

Dr. Agyemang explained that his shift to controlled cultivation began in 2020 due to concerns over contaminated herbs sourced from areas affected by illegal mining and agrochemical use. He emphasized the importance of growing medicinal plants like medicine, not ordinary crops, to ensure purity and safety.
Dr. Kofi Turkson, Head of the Herbal Medicine Department at KNUST, commended Dr. Agyemang for taking a bold step that guarantees clean raw materials, supports research, and creates training opportunities for students.

The Malawian delegation expressed commitment to deepening collaboration with Ghanaian institutions to strengthen traditional medicine frameworks.

The delegation described Dr. Agyemang’s initiative as a vital blueprint for Africa’s herbal future, necessary to elevate herbal medicine to international health standards.
