The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has sounded the alarm over the chaotic state of Bantama, vowing to enforce street regulations amid rampant trading on roads, pavement encroachments, and haphazard parking that have turned the area into a traffic nightmare.

In a stern statement issued November 25, 2025, following an inspection led by Mayor Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman, KMA condemned the practices and warned offenders to cease immediately.
Traders occupying pavements and streets around Bantama Market have been given an ultimatum: relocate to the Racecourse Market. Effective immediately. Affected vendors are to contact the Bantama Sub-Metro Administrator for space allocation.

The deadline to comply is Friday, November 28, 2025. After this, KMA won’t hesitate:
-Demolish structures blocking walkways.
-Slap owners with fines.
“KMA is serious about restoring order,” the statement emphasized. The move aims to ease congestion, improve safety, and unclog Bantama’s busy streets. Traders are urged to cooperate.
