“HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO SAVES LIVES NOT BE SAVED?” – CCY URGES GOV’T TO HEAR GRNMA OUT.

The Coalition of Concerned Youth (CCY) expresses deep concern over rising mortality rates due to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) strike, which began on June 2, 2025. CCY’s Executive Director, Richard Mensah, urges the government to engage with GRNMA to find a solution, enabling nurses to return to work and save lives.

Mensah emphasizes that lost lives are irreversible and calls on the government to meet GRNMA’s demands. He questions the disparity in treatment, noting politicians seek medical care abroad at taxpayers’ expense while neglecting GRNMA’s conditions of service. “How can someone who saves lives not be saved?” Mensah asks, echoing the youth’s plea for immediate action.

The CCY leader highlights inconsistencies in benefits, pointing out government officials receive allowances while healthcare workers face unmet demands. He urges prioritizing GRNMA’s concerns to curb rising mortality rates and appeals for better ministerial oversight, particularly in health and communication.

Mensah also cautions journalists against inflammatory comments on national issues.
