Ghana Journalists Association Highlights Media’s Pivotal Role in Shaping Narratives and Driving Economic Growth at Ashanti Media Summit 2026

The Ashanti Media Summit 2026 has convened media professionals, policymakers, and cultural leaders to deliberate on the future of media and its far-reaching influence on Ghana’s society.

The summit, themed “Amplifying Ashanti: Media, Culture and Digital Influence in the New Creative Economy,” underscores the media’s critical role in shaping narratives, preserving cultural heritage, and driving economic transformation.

In a keynote address on behalf of the Ghana Journalists Association, Ashanti Regional Chapter Chairman, Mr. Kofi Domfeh, stressed the importance of responsible and innovative journalism in projecting Ashanti’s rich culture to a global audience.

He emphasized that the creative economy offers immense opportunities for Ghana, particularly in sectors such as music, film, fashion, digital content, and cultural tourism, which are heavily reliant on effective media visibility.

However, Mr. Domfeh also highlighted the challenges posed by the digital age, including the proliferation of misinformation and unethical content.

He urged journalists to uphold the highest ethical standards, invest in rigorous fact-checking, and ensure that technological innovation does not compromise journalistic integrity.

The summit emphasized the imperative of collaboration between government, private sector institutions, cultural organizations, and media houses to create a robust media ecosystem that fosters creativity, promotes cultural heritage, and stimulates economic growth.

Participants were encouraged to forge partnerships that will strengthen the media industry and creative economy, ultimately positioning Ashanti and Ghana as a global hub for culture, creativity, and digital storytelling.
