Amasaman High Court Reduces Nana Agradaa’s Prison Sentence to 12 Months

The Amasaman High Court has reduced the prison sentence of controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa from 15 years to 12 calendar months, ruling that the original punishment was unduly harsh.

The court maintained her conviction but exercised its discretionary authority to review the sentence imposed by the trial court.

In its judgment, the High Court replaced the 15-year sentence with hard labour with a one-year custodial term, effective from July 3, 2025, the date Nana Agradaa was convicted. This means she will serve a total of 12 months in prison.

The court stated that while the offence committed by Nana Agradaa deserved punishment, the severity of the initial sentence was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case, warranting a downward adjustment.

The reduction in sentence has sparked interest and debate, given the public profile of the evangelist and the initial reaction to her conviction.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who later became a Christian evangelist, was convicted earlier this year.

The High Court’s decision to significantly reduce her sentence has brought attention to the judicial review process and the considerations involved in sentencing.
