We’ll finish Sewua Hospital this year – Mahama.

The completion of the Sewua Hospital by the end of the year has been promised by President John Dramani Mahama.

He highlighted that although a number of projects started during his former government had delayed during the most recent administration, he is determined to see them through to completion.

President Mahama told the clergy in Kumasi on Sunday, “I have given Otumfuo my word that we will finish the Sewua hospital this year. After it is finished, we will be able to clear out Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital so that crucial rehabilitation work can proceed there.

He also noted that he has spoken to the managers of Euroget De-Invest S.A, the contractors, who have assured him that they will resume work in earnest at the Afari military hospital to ensure its speedy completion.

In addition, President Mahama addressed the stalled Kejetia Market phase II project, which was impacted by the debt exchange, and highlighted other projects, like the Suame Interchange and various road works, that were started without dedicated funding.

He acknowledged the need to find funding sources to expedite these projects and ease the conditions and inconveniences that the residents of Kumasi face, saying, “We are looking for sources of funding to speed up the work on this project so that we can ease the condition and inconvenience that the residents of Kumasi face.”

President Mahama expressed hope about resuming bilateral talks with lenders to resume construction on the project now that official negotiations with the creditor committee have ended.

“We can now have bilateral talks with the lenders so they can start working on Kumasi Market phase 2 now that we have completed the formal negotiations with the official creditor committee,” he continued.
