We won’t listen to any pleas if govt fails to act – Mortuary workers warn

The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has voiced frustration over the government’s lack of commitment to addressing its members’ concerns.

According to the association, the government has been making empty promises regarding improvements to the conditions of service for MOWAG members.

This comes after MOWAG issued a two-week ultimatum to the government, demanding that their concerns be resolved or they would resume their strike.

The association had temporarily suspended the strike in hopes that the government would act on their demands.

Speaking to Newsmen, MOWAG General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan warned that the association would not hesitate to resume the strike if the government fails to address their grievances.

“Government has never shown commitments. The government has always played around the issue. They have always manipulated the issue using jargon which does not mean anything. We think that this time around, we are serious and we will hold the bull by the horns, simple as that.

“We have said that we have not called it off, we have not suspended it, we are keeping it in abeyance. It means that we don’t even need to tell them to close the place. But we are telling the public to do the needful. They should help the government to solve our problems because when they start crying, we will not listen.”
