Twenty teenage ladies have been honoured for keeping their virginity by the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church’s Wenchi West District, which is a part of the Bono Region’s Mid West Ghana Conference.
The Young Adventist Women Ministries led the award event, which honoured the moral rectitude of girls between the ages of 13 and 16 and reinforced virtues derived from Ghanaian cultural customs and Christian teachings.
The Young Adventist Women Ministries Coordinator, Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, clarified that the program’s goal is to support young women’s overall wellbeing.
She pointed out that encouraging young girls to value their individuality promotes self-assurance and prudent choices in their interactions and pursuits.
Mrs. Poku compared the event to traditional puberty rituals like Dipo and Bragoro, which have traditionally prepared teenage girls for social and marital obligations.
Presenting the girls to God for blessings and direction is part of the modernized Christian perspective, she underlined.
Additionally, Pastor Kyereh counselled parents to actively assist in teaching discipline and pointing their kids in the direction of moral behaviour.
A few of the girls who received awards conveyed their appreciation to the church leaders for their leadership and assistance in assisting them in maintaining their moral principles.
The occasion demonstrated the church’s dedication to influencing the next generation of young ladies by fusing Christian teachings with their cultural heritage.
