A delegation from St. Louis SHS’s administration and athletic squad, who had won trophies at the Super Zonals for three years in a row, was welcomed by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister.
The Minister commended the team for their exceptional accomplishments and urged them to continue training and aiming for even higher goals during a meeting at the regional coordinating council.
“With perseverance and consistency, they could represent Ghana at national competitions and even international events like the Olympics.”
In order to encourage and assist the squad, the Minister donated money to support their welfare and training.
“I think that the best way to strengthen Ghanaian sports’ future is to invest in young talent.”
In addition, Dr. Frank Amoakohene encouraged the administration to provide extra classes to enable student-athletes make up lost academic time while they spend valuable time preparing and competing.
In addition, he voiced grave concerns about the escalating hostilities and tensions between schools following Interco and Super Zonal.
He gave them his word that: Police are currently looking into recent altercations, and schools found to be at fault may be subject to severe punishments, such as potential exclusion from competition in the future and monetary fines for harm done to other schools.
There have already been several arrests, and anyone caught committing these crimes will be subject to the full weight of the law, whether they are current students or former pupils disguised in school uniforms.
“Sports need to foster constructive rivalry, cooperation, and patriotism rather than violence. Let us uphold the integrity of school competitions and preserve the spirit of sportsmanship.
