The appointment of ten regional ministers has been formally requested by President John Dramani Mahama and approved by Parliament.
The presidency has sent a communication to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, asking that the nominations be examined and accepted.
As part of his ongoing efforts to reorganize his administration after assuming office, the President enumerates the applicants for regional ministry positions in the letter to the Speaker of Parliament.
Ten ( 10 ) candidates are named to manage various regions of Ghana in the document, which expressly asks for legislative approval in line with constitutional norms.
These choices are believed to be crucial to advancing the administration’s objectives, and the regions are crucial to the local execution of government policies.
According to Ghana’s constitution, a minister cannot take office until the Speaker of Parliament has approved the appointment.
The process often involves background checks and parliamentary vetting to ensure the candidates are qualified.
This latest move is significant because it shows how the new administration prioritises regional leadership, which is crucial to decentralized government.
However, the government’s internal security procedures might be called into question if this confidential paper is made public.
