Sampa Chieftaincy Dispute: Amass Urges Government to Let the Law Prevail

The Paramount Chief of Sampa Tol33 Samgba Gyafla who’s also an Appeal Court Judge, Nephew, Amass Yaa Grace, has issued a pressing appeal to the government to treat the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in Sampa as a matter of utmost urgency. The dispute has spiraled out of control, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and posing a significant threat to peace and stability in the area.

The situation in Sampa has become increasingly dire, with citizens and natives caught in the crossfire of the violence. The Sampa Traditional Council is deeply concerned about the escalation of the conflict and the devastating impact it is having on the local community. The council’s call for action is driven by a desire to protect the lives and livelihoods of the people of Sampa.

Amass Yaa Grace, the Paramount Chief’s nephew, has made serious allegations against the Sammordua people, accusing them of engaging in criminal activities in relation to the chieftaincy dispute. He specifically named Daniel Ocran, the Spokesperson for the Sammordua people, as a key figure behind the dispute. According to Amass Yaa Grace, Daniel Ocran’s actions have contributed significantly to the escalation of the conflict.

Amass Yaa Grace emphasized that customary laws are an integral part of Ghana’s legal framework and must be respected. He urged the government to recognize the importance of traditional laws and procedures in resolving chieftaincy disputes. The Sampa Traditional Council believes that a peaceful resolution to the dispute can only be achieved by acknowledging and respecting the customary laws and traditions of the area.

The Sampa Traditional Council is urging the government to take immediate action to:

Restore Peace: Ensure an end to the violence and restore peace in the area.

Enforce the Law: Bring those responsible for the violence to justice and ensure that the law is enforced without fear or favor.

Support Traditional Institutions: Recognize the importance of traditional institutions and customary laws in resolving chieftaincy disputes.

The government is urged to prioritize the safety and well-being of citizens and take decisive action to address the situation. The Sampa Traditional Council’s call to action is a plea for peace, stability, and justice, and it is hoped that the government will take immediate action to address the situation.
