The Ashanti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has engaged the Ashanti Regional COCOBOD Pensioners Association in a public education forum, focusing on responsible regulation for strategic positioning.

The event aimed to educate pensioners on the Commission’s role, guidelines, and processes in the utilities sector.

The forum covered key areas, including the establishment of PURC, guidelines on refund of capital contribution, and meter acquisition processes. The Commission explained the Act 538 (1997) and the nature of complaints that can be lodged at regional offices.
“Pensioners were taken through the guidelines on refund of capital contributions and the processes to follow at the utilities offices,” said PURC Ashanti Regional Office.
The Commission also highlighted the processes involved in meter acquisition and how it can assist with challenges.

To facilitate communication, the Regional Office distributed contact leaflets to pensioners, encouraging them to reach out for support with electricity and water usage issues.

This engagement reflects PURC’s commitment to responsible regulation, ensuring utilities services meet customer needs.
The Ashanti Regional Office continues to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory frameworks, enhancing customer satisfaction and protection.
