The Nkosuohene of Nyankyerenease Traditional Council and CEO of Shamor Group of Companies, Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini Barima Kese, has emphasized the urgent need for government to prioritize teacher welfare as a critical investment in Ghana’s future.

Speaking at the Afigya Kwabre South District Teachers’ Awards Programme, Nana Adu Gyamfi stressed that teachers are the backbone of national development, yet their contributions often go unrecognized.

He highlighted challenges facing teachers, including inadequate incentives, delayed promotions, limited accommodation, and lack of teaching resources, which affect morale, particularly at the basic level.
“If we truly desire a better future for our children and the nation at large, then we must begin by taking good care of those who shape young minds. Teacher welfare should not be treated as an afterthought,” Nana Adu Gyamfi stated.

The Nkosuohene urged government to address these concerns urgently, noting that motivated teachers are more likely to deliver quality education and nurture responsible citizens.
He commended the district education authorities and event organizers for recognizing teacher excellence, dedication, and innovation, describing such initiatives as steps toward restoring dignity and pride in the teaching profession.
Nana Adu Gyamfi encouraged teachers to remain dedicated despite challenges, assuring them their contributions to national development do not go unnoticed. He appealed to stakeholders, including traditional authorities, local assemblies, and the private sector, to support efforts aimed at improving teacher welfare and education outcomes in the district.
The event brought together education officials, traditional leaders, teachers, and community members, recognizing the vital role teachers play in shaping Ghana’s future. Several teachers were awarded for outstanding performance, years of service, and commitment to duty, highlighting the district’s commitment to excellence in education.
