An unfortunate event occurred on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the busy streets of Kejetia, Kumasi, when a Nigerian trader, known as Loverboy, was fatally stabbed after a furious argument with another dealer.
The neighbourhood is in astonishment and local Nigerian traders are furious about the occurrence, which happened at around 11:00 am.
A brief argument between the victim and the attacker quickly turned into a physical altercation that ended in stabbing, according to witnesses.
Following the stabbing, it is reported that the attacker fled the area right away. When the victim arrived at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, they declared him dead.
On Friday, February 21, a few Nigerian traders demonstrated in the streets to call for justice.
The Nigerian population in Kejetia was familiar with Loverboy, whose true name is still unknown. To work on the streets of Kumasi, a centre for traders and street sellers, he had come from Nigeria to Ghana.
His friends and coworkers described him as affable and hard-working, and his untimely death left many in sadness. Right now, the suspect is still at large.
However, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has made it clear that it intends to apprehend the attacker and subject him to the full force of the law.
