NDC Chairman Urges Bono East Residents to Preserve Peace, Drive Development

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has emphasized the importance of peace and unity in the Bono East Region, describing it as a critical tool for accelerating development.

According to him, sustained peace creates an enabling environment for socio-economic growth, effective policy implementation, and human resource empowerment, ultimately driving economic development.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia made the call during his “thank you tour” of the Bono East Region, where he expressed the party’s appreciation to residents, traditional authorities, and party faithful for their support in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at Yeji, he highlighted the capacity of peace to attract development initiatives and ensure the successful rollout of policies aimed at improving living conditions.

He cautioned against conflicts, citing their devastating consequences, and urged stakeholders to work together to maintain harmony in the region.

The NDC Chairman also outlined key flagship programs to be implemented by the government, including the National Apprenticeship Programme, the 24-hour economy policy, Feed Ghana, and the “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” initiative, aimed at economically empowering citizens.

At separate engagements in the Kintampo North and South municipalities, Mr. Asiedu Nketia reiterated the government’s readiness to introduce additional social intervention programs to strengthen livelihoods. He assured residents of the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and expanding access to quality social amenities, such as healthcare and education.

The Bono East Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Unas Owusu, commended the government for its commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, expressing optimism that the flagship programs would address the needs of the people.

He noted that the Feed Ghana program would significantly benefit the agriculturally dominated region, empowering farmers to increase production.

The tour, which also took the party leadership to several other constituencies, was accompanied by the NDC National Treasurer, Mr. Alex Kyeremeh, and the party’s National Logistics Officer, Alhaji Mohammed Doku.
