The NPP’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged Gonjaland residents to back a political party that has a better record of bringing about development.
He argues that since the true objective of democracy is development, it is the electorate’s duty to select political leaders who prioritize their needs for progress.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the NPP is the only political party in Ghana that is similar when it comes to development issues.
According to him, the NPP has finished more development projects around the nation, including in Gonjaland, than any other government, in addition to putting in place the largest social intervention programs in the nation’s history.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, he paid a courtesy call to Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, the Overlord of Gonjaland, at the Ndewura Jakpa Palace in Damango as part of his constituency-focused campaign visits in the Northern Region.
“Since politics is all about development, the politician who is not your son but gives you development and attends to your needs is the one you should vote for,” NAPO, as he is affectionately known, emphasized. He is more deserving of your vote than even your undeveloped son.
He cited the creation of the Savanna Region for Gonjaland by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration as one of the many reasons why the people of Gonjaland should back the NPP.
Adding that, asserts that the Savanna Region’s creation has enabled the area to carry out a number of development initiatives.
He asserted that despite the Chiefs’ and people’s demands for over 40 years, the people of Gonjaland had failed to provide the NPP any electoral rewards for establishing the Savanna Region.
“Your son [John Mahama] who hails from here could not meet this legitimate demand of yours when he was President despite promising to do the same. It had to take President Akufo-Addo who hails from the Eastern Region to grant your demands. The person who helps you to develop is your brother, not the person who your mother gave birth to”, Napo stated.
