The largest telecommunications network, MTN Ghana, welcomed the arrival of 22 newborns at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi on Christmas Day in a touching gesture.
The mothers of the infants, who were ecstatic, were given hampers including necessities for baby care, such as clothes, nappies, and detergents.
Speaking to the media about the donation, MTN Head of Corporate Affairs Northern Business Division Mrs. Charity Darko encouraged the girls and mentioned that 260 hampers were handed to 17 hospitals in the Northern Sector as a result of the initiative.
She mentioned that 600 hampers were given to 30 hospitals nationwide as part of the activity.
Since 2011, MTN Ghana has given an astounding 3,500 hampers to newborns born on Christmas Day, Mrs. Charity Darko continued, highlighting the company’s dedication to expressing love and support to new mothers and their infants.
She underlined that Christmas is a season of happiness and generosity, and MTN Ghana was delighted to support the occasion.
Nurse Manager at KATH Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Gifty Serwaa Adu thanked MTN for the considerate act, pointing out that it would ease the financial strain on new moms.
She disclosed that the hampers will offer much-needed relief as many mothers struggle to pay their bills after giving birth.
