The Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly hosted a Business Investors Forum with the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at Konongo, with the aim of attracting investments and promoting economic development in the municipality.
The Chief Executive of Asante Akim Central, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, stated that his major priority is to develop Asante Akim Central through industrialization.
He revealed that he recently travelled to India to seek and secure investors to invest in the municipality, with the goal of bridging the gap and ending unemployment in the country, as envisioned by President Mahama.
Hon. Ekow Aidoo emphasized that the Municipal Assembly has been working tirelessly to end illegal mining (galamsey) in the area since his term began, and is now seeking an investor to invest in large-scale mining within the municipality, given that the citizens of the area depend on mining and farming.
“We’ve been arresting these illegal miners and now have been given a name behind this action,” he said, adding that three individuals are set to face the law for their involvement in the destruction of water bodies and lands.
The Vice President and now President-elect of SGCCI, Mr. Ashokbhai Virjibhai Chodvadiya, led a delegation to Ghana to discuss strengthening collaboration on trade and investment. He noted that SGCCI has over two hundred thousand members and has called on its members to invest and help develop the Asante Akim Central Community.
Mr. Ashokbhai Virjibhai Chodvadiya underscored the Chamber’s commitment to positioning Ghana as a reliable partner for international trade and investment.
He stated that stronger economic relations with India would help open new opportunities for Ghanaian enterprises, particularly in accessing finance, technology, and markets across the globe.
The forum was seen as a significant step towards promoting economic development and investment in Asante Akim Central, and the Municipal Assembly is optimistic that it will lead to the creation of jobs and improvement in the lives of the people.
