One of the last three candidates shortlisted for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mayorship is Nana Asare Bediako, also referred to as “Obama.”From an original pool of eight candidates, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Regional vetting committee chose the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Atwima Nwabiagya area.
Martin Asamoah Atuahene and Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi are the other two shortlisted applicants. After the screening procedure, “Obama” said he was confident he could get the job.
He underlined his dedication to the NDC by pointing out that, following the 2020 election, he was one of the first people in the area to brand his car with NDC colours, a move he maintained for three years.
Obama said in a media interview, “We’ve worked hard to ensure the NDC’s return to power.”
“A person with expertise, diligence, and consideration for the elderly is required to serve as mayor of KMA.
I am certain that I am qualified for the role given my humility and the aforementioned qualities.
He highlighted his prior experience as Atwima Nwabiagya’s MCE, where he was named the Ashanti Region’s top MCE and the country’s second-best.
Obama promised to put in even more effort to achieve constructive change in Kumasi if given the chance.
“I’ve had the chance to collaborate with numerous social workers, truckers, and traders. Obama declared, “I’m number one when it comes to managing their affairs to bring sanity and development.”
He also stated that he is confident in his ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders, having worked with chiefs, journalists, and other leadership groups.
Obama also disputed the idea that the Ashanti area does not support the NDC.
He claimed, “We have the support, but you need someone who can get a lot of these votes for the party, and that kind of person is me.”
He underlined that he was the best person to rally votes for the NDC in the area because of his background and interpersonal skills.
He reaffirmed his commitment and faith in his ability to change Kumasi as he wrapped up.
