A devastating incident occurred at Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old electrician known as Kofi Electrician. The incident happened on Wednesday, October 8, while the electrician was working on a residential building to fix an electrical fault.
Details of the Incident
Kofi Electrician was contracted by landlady Madam Fati Adams to fix an earth wire in her three-bedroom house, which was experiencing electrical challenges despite having electricity installed.
While working on a wooden ladder around 2:30 p.m., the electrician suddenly fell to the ground and died instantly.
Madam Fati Adams, who had gone to the market to buy foodstuffs for the electrician, returned to find him lying motionless on the ground. When she attempted to touch him, she received an electric shock and called for help.
The police from the Toase Divisional Command arrived at the scene and conveyed the body to the Afari Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Investigations have been launched to determine the exact cause of death and whether proper safety measures were observed during the electrical work.
Residents described the deceased as a well-known electrician in the area who frequently undertook electrical works in the community. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of prioritizing electrical safety.
