A cheque for GH30,000 has been delivered by Ebenage Herbal Production & Consult (EHPC) in support of the “Heal Komfo Anokye” Project. His Royal Majesty Osei Tutu II, the Overlord of Asanteman, launched the “Heal Komfo Anokye Project” project with the goal of restoring the cramped Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Through a public fundraising campaign, the “Heal Komfo Anokye Project” aims to gather US$10 million to restore the hospital’s 70-year-old inpatient wards. At a brief ceremony on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang, the creator of EHPC, a prominent herbal medicine producer in the Ashanti Regional capital, gave the aforementioned sum to the “Heal Komfo Anokye Project” administration.
The founder of EHPC revealed that following the Asantehene’s announcement, the company’s CEO, Mrs. Felicia Agyemang, decided to set aside a portion of sales proceeds from the sale of their products, which include Plasmox, Pavi, and Hepaplus Mixture, in order to support the King’s admirable initiative.
This decision was made with the help of the board and management. He stated that they would return to support the King’s project as soon as they were able to raise additional funds from the sale of their products.
“So far, we have been able to save GH30,000 and because of inflation, among other factors, we decided not to wait, but to donate what we have mobilized to support the King’s project,” he said.
Dr. Agyemang highlighted EHOC’s dedication to promoting both national and local development, revealing that they were motivated by the Asantehene’s appeal for unity and wanted to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Agyemang expressed his admiration for the amazing job being done at KATH.
Additionally, he praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the “Heal Komfo Anokye Project” committee, Prof. Addai-Mensah, the CEO of KATH, the hospital administration, and the contributors. Additionally, he urged all Ghanaians to assist the project, particularly those in the Asante Kingdom.
The donation was accepted on behalf of the CEO and the “Heal Komfo Anokye” project committee by Mr Kwadwo Sarbeng, KATH’s medical director, and Ms. Afua Sam, KATH’s director of nursing, together with other management personnel.
Mr. Sarbeng revealed the timely impact of the donation and praised EHPC for its kind gesture. He took advantage of the event to urge all Ghanaians to donate in order to support the hospital’s full refurbishment.
He claims that, as previously mentioned, no significant renovations have been made to the hospital since it was built in 1950, with the exception of the initiative taken by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. He said, “We still need more support to ensure the project is completed.”
