Democracy Hub Demonstration Is NDC’s Plan To Make Gov’t ‘Unpopular’ – Gideon Boako

Dr. Gideon Boako has accused the largest opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) of being the mastermind behind the Democracy Hub protest.

Some group of persons hit the streets of 37 Military Hospital days ago to register their displeasure with the government regarding galamsey.

The protesters, during their demonstration, blocked major roads leading to the 37 Military Hospital and other areas causing huge gridlock, destroyed party billboards and posters and engaged in other acts of destruction.

Their provocation was extended to the Police as their leader, Oliver Baker-Vormawor, stole the keys of a Police vehicle and threw it away.

The behavior of the protesters compelled the Police to arrest some of them who are currently facing prosecution.

Analyzing the protest during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show monitored by kumasipioneer.com, the Spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako stated that the demonstrators were politically influenced by the National Democratic Congress but hid behind galamsey to make Ghanaians think they were demonstrating in their interest.

He stressed, in reality, it was all aimed at making the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government unpopular so the NDC wins the election.

“If you are doing demonstration against galamsey, why do you burn NPP properties?”, he queried and answered; “It means you have a special target against the NPP. So, it is political. So, let no Ghanaian sit down and be deceived by NDC’s latent attempt to cause a bad image for the government.”

He added, “All these people who led the demonstration, we know them. Oliver Baker-Vormawor, typical NDC boy; who doesn’t know him?…All these people hold positions in the NDC. If you like, let us go into the election and, perish the thought, NDC wins the election, Oliver Baker-Vormawor and all these people leading the demonstration will be given positions in NDC government.”
