Following a videotaped assault incident at a recent funeral service, the New Force Movement has ordered the immediate suspension of Adu Acheampong, a member of its presidential candidate’s private security squad.
While attending the funeral services for the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on June 7, 2025, Acheampong, also known as “Seven,” was observed striking a man who was repeatedly trying to approach the New Force candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Chaddar.
Charles Yomekpe, the general secretary of the movement, signed a news release confirming that Acheampong had used “unjustifiable force” against a fan who was only attempting to interact with the presidential candidate.
The incident was deemed “regrettable” by the New Force, which also stated that it is handling the situation with “utmost seriousness.” To examine the behaviour and decide on suitable disciplinary actions, a thorough internal inquiry has been started.
As long as the investigation is ongoing, Acheampong will continue to be suspended. To address the conduct and assist stop it from happening again, he has been enrolled in a thorough anger management program in the interim.
The statement stressed that “respect, engagement, and peaceful democratic participation are the foundations of our movement.” In the meantime, Mr. Acheampong has apologised unconditionally to the attack victim.
