Calm Restored Following Ejura Police Station Mob Attack…

After a suspect’s death sparks rioting, tensions subside as local authorities and leaders cooperate to restore calm.

After a crowd attack on the Ejura Police Station early on Saturday, January 11, 2025, the Ghana Police Service has brought peace back to Ejura.

When police detained a person on suspicion of stealing late Friday, January 10, 2025, the mayhem started.

The suspect reportedly became ill while in detention at 2:20 am and was sent to the Ejura Government Hospital immediately. Regretfully, he passed away during treatment.

Enraged people of the community attacked the police station and set parts of it on fire while the body of the deceased was being prepared to be transferred for autopsy.

Additionally, the mob broke into the hospital and seized the suspect’s body by force.

With the assistance of local opinion leaders, the police responded quickly, defusing the situation and guaranteeing that no one was hurt.

The military subsequently joined the police to strengthen security in the area after the Ghana National Fire Service put out the fire.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to upholding peace and order in the neighbourhood by launching investigations to find the perpetrators of the incident.
