The Sekondi High Court in the Western Region has withdrawn the injunction that prevented Miss Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Amenfi Central, from contesting in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The ruling was issued on Monday, November 11, 2024, after an earlier adjournment on November 7.
The NDC has asked the court to overturn the disqualification of their candidate and allow her to participate in the December 7 elections.
George K. Gyan-Kontoh, His Lordship, was in charge of it. Ms. Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s primary lawyer, Edudzie Tamakloe, urged the court to expedite the case early in the proceedings, pointing out that any additional delays may infringe upon her right to run for office.
Even though no agreement was reached, His Lordship Gyan-Kontoh urged both parties to consider an out-of-court settlement and underlined the significance of a speedy resolution.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe is now able to run for the Amenfi Central Parliamentary election according to today’s judgement. After the court’s decision, she thanked God for all that had happened today, especially my new solicitors who had come to my aid.
“I express my appreciation to God, the NDC members, the executives, and the entire NDC for the Western Region”. I must say that I’m ecstatic.
