A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) academics called a press conference to discuss a number of internal party concerns, such as Kwame Baffoe’s behaviour (also known as Abronye DC) and the party’s proposed reorganisation. The group is called Concerned Lecturers of the NPP, and its leaders are Mr. Isaac Owusu Mensah (Msc.), Assistant Planning Officer, Kumasi Technical University, and Mr. Oppong Michael (MRes/Mphil.), Assistant Librarian, Kumasi Technical University.
The group claims, “As Concerned Lecturers of the NPP, we are dedicated to the party’s principles and think it must continue to be a democratic, principled, and people-centered force.” To resolve the concerns brought up and guarantee that the party reverts to its original ideals, we implore the party leadership to act swiftly.
The committee stressed the importance of the party prioritizing inclusivity, democracy, and discipline as well as the necessity of rebuilding and fortifying its infrastructure.
The Concerned Lecturers’ concerns have not yet received an official response from the NPP. The group does, however, expect that its issues will be given careful consideration and prompt attention. The Concerned Lecturers’ concerns have important ramifications for the future of the NPP. They might jeopardise the party’s efficacy and cohesiveness if left unchecked.
The party leadership has been urged by the Concerned Lecturers to act right now to resolve the concerns brought forward. Additionally, the group has called on the party’s national council and NEC to give the party’s democratic foundations first priority and reevaluate the suggested restructuring plan.
