Common Fund Collateralization rendered MMDAs bankrupt – Asiedu Nketiah Disclosed…

The National Democratic Congress’ national chairman, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, has disclosed that the District Assemblies Common Fund, which was meant to provide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies more authority over the development agenda, has actually caused them to become bankrupt.

According to him, Assemblies have had trouble starting new projects or finishing old ones since the capital was collateralized.

The Assemblies are now forced to rely on loans before they can operationalised special functions.

Because common fund collateralization has removed financial constraints, many assemblies are underdeveloped.

Additionally, he said that the NPP government constantly gains from the votes of rural communities but does not give them priority.

He was on his fourth day of campaigning in the Ashanti region, speaking at a community durbar in Anyinofi, Sekyere Afram Plains constituency.

Hajiah Afrah Nasira, the National Democratic Congress NDC’s parliamentary candidate in Sekyere Afram Plains, urged the constituency’s residents to cast high numbers of votes for John Dramani Mahama in order to fund a district development project.
