The Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency Clergy have praised the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy for alleviating a significant financial burden on churches in Ghana.
According to them, Prior to the policy’s introduction, pastors were compelled to utilize church funds to pay secondary school fees, hindering the smooth operation of churches.
However, with the policy’s implementation, pastors no longer need to seek church funds for school fees, whether as loans or grants.
Rev. Kwame Ampem Darko, Nkawie/Toase District Pastor for Presbyterian Church of Ghana, expressed these sentiments while representing the local council of churches during Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
Rev. Ampem Darko urged the NPP government to maintain the policy, emphasizing its benefits for vulnerable populations.
Dr. Bawumia, the Vice Presidential Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from traditional authorities and clergy.
He underscored the NPP government’s commitment to prioritizing Ghanaian welfare, citing the swift implementation of the free SHS policy as a prime example.
Dr. Bawumia assured that the NPP government will continue its social intervention programs, including the free SHS policy, and urged Ghanaians to support the NPP for accelerated development.
He emphasized that, the party’s initiatives have been instrumental in addressing various social needs, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
