Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Launches Crackdown on Illicit Drug Trade

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has arrested four individuals for selling illicit drugs at a sanitation area behind the Ashtown Post Office, as part of its efforts to maintain law and order in the metropolis.

The Internal Security Task Force conducted the operation on Monday, March 16, 2026, seizing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a locally manufactured pistol, packs of cigarettes, hard drugs, and other harmful materials.

The suspects have been handed over to the Kumasi Central Police for further investigation.

KMA reiterates its commitment to public safety and urges residents to report suspicious activities and cooperate with authorities to keep the metropolis safe.

The operation demonstrates KMA’s determination to crack down on drug peddlers and maintain a secure environment for residents.
