Obuasi West MCE Devotes Appointment to God in Thanksgiving Service.

The Calvary Baptist Church in Obuasi hosted a special thanksgiving ceremony for Faustilove Appiah Kannin, the recently appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi West, to honour God’s role in her recent promotion. A diverse group of party supporters, family members, friends, and churchgoers gathered for the Sunday, July 13, 2025, service.

They were all dressed in white, which stands for happiness, purity, and thankfulness.

In a poignant address to the audience, Madam Appiah Kannin discussed her political career and recalled how, in a prior general election, she nearly lost to Kwaku Kwarteng of the NPP as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate.

She claimed her nomination as MCE is evidence of God’s perfect timing and that her faith remained unwavering in spite of that loss. “God does not deny Himself by being slow.

I am here today as the Municipal Chief Executive, despite the fact that I did not win the legislative seat. In our perspective, it is amazing, and it is the Lord’s doing,” she said.

Madam Appiah Kannin added her gratitude to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership, the Local Government Ministry, and President John Dramani Mahama for their faith in her.

Rev. Harrison, the officiating pastor, commended the MCE’s humility and counselled her to run her administration according to the values of accountability, justice, and truth. It is a divine calling to be a leader. When God gives you a position of power, it’s not to glorify yourself, but to serve the people, Rev. Harrison said.

During her time as MCE, prayers were given for success, protection, and wisdom. After the service, supporters told reporters they were confident in her ability to lead and promised to support Obuasi West’s growth under her direction.

Thanksgiving is the start of what many in the community believe will be a period of transformation for the municipality under the leadership of Madam Faustilove Appia Kannin.
