Prophetess Elizabeth Dankwa, General Overseer and Founder of King Solomon Universal Temple International (Mpatasie), has urged President John Dramani Mahama to boost the Gh¢ 1.80 allotted for the maintenance of convicts’ food.
She made these comments when she visited the female inmates of Kumasi Central Prisons to make a donation. Bags of rice, sugar, maize and oil were given to the Kumasi Central Prisons by the prophetess and her entourage.
Prophetess Elizabeth said in a media interview that her time spent behind bars motivated her to help those who are incarcerated today.
The prophetess believes that the government ought to give improved housing for the police officers who are responsible for the prisoners first priority.
Following her words of encouragement to the prisoners, she made a Father’s Day dinner commitment to the male convicts.
As for the inmates and prison officers, D.S.P. Veronica Otu, the Duty Officer for the day, thanked the prophetess and her crew for their compassion and care.
Some prisoners receive training in weaving, making, and other talents while incarcerated, the officer said, in order to help them reintegrate into society after their release.
Nevertheless, she emphasized that these abilities are frequently underutilized because of a lack of money to sustain oneself following incarceration.
When such inmates are freed from jail, she urged families and individuals to provide them with support.
