Kumasi Mayor Meets with GPRTU to Discuss Transport Reforms.

The city’s transit system faces many obstacles, which Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, has recognized and underlined the necessity of a practical solution.

The Mayor gave a presentation to the Ashanti Regional Executives of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) about his vision for a thriving and appealing transport sector that benefits the public and draws in investment.

The mayor said that the transport industry was beset by a number of issues, such as loading at unapproved locations, charging unapproved fares and the existence of unapproved transport unions.

He underlined that these issues must be resolved in a sustainable manner, which will include working with transportation stakeholders and assembling a task force to determine, organize, and carry out policies that adhere to the Assembly’s bylaws and traffic rules.

Ofori-Agyeman Boadi highlighted his intention to streamline the road transport industry, making it robust and attractive to investors.

He believes that with the correct attitude, the transport business can be changed to serve the public good and contribute to the city’s economic prosperity.

The GPRTU, which has promised to work with the Assembly to preserve sanity and advance the transport sector, praised the Mayor’s dedication to doing so.

The GPRTU’s regional chairman, Sumaila Boakye, congratulated the mayor on his new position and urged him to uphold rules and laws pertaining to the transport sector.

A new era for Kumasi’s transport industry begins with the meeting between the Mayor and the GPRTU. Through a collective dedication to enhancing the industry, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and transport stakeholders may collaborate to tackle the sector’s obstacles and establish a more effective and efficient transport system for the city.

One step in the direction of developing a more dynamic and alluring transport sector is the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive’s readiness to solve the issues confronting the city’s transport system.

The GPRTU and other transport stakeholders can help the Assembly pursue long-term solutions that benefit the general public and boost the local economy.
