An accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway in the Bono East Region has resulted in the confirmed deaths of eight individuals. Following the tragedy, which happened in Nyumuase in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, some 11 more people are reportedly in severe condition.
The Mathias Hospital in Yeji is now treating the injured. A minibus registered AS 4360-23, transporting 19 people from Ejura to Yeji, was engaged in the incident.
All of the casualties, who were presumably cattle traders, were on their way back from their day’s work when the disaster happened. The vehicle struck a pothole while speeding, causing the collision, a survivor told Newsmen.
The tragedy was caused by the bad state of the road between Amantin and Yeji, according to Abdul-Nasir Dauda, the Pru East District Chief Executive (DCE), who also advised cars to drive carefully along that section.
In the meantime, it is anticipated that some of the deceased will be buried today, April 29, 2025, in keeping with Islamic custom.
