Students at Odorgonor SHS protest over malfunctioning street lights.

On Monday, February 24, students from Odorgonor Senior High School in Accra staged a street protest against the broken traffic signals and lighting near their school, citing safety concerns.

The students lament the fact that staff people have already perished due of the failing signs, and they fear that if something is not done right away, more lives could be lost. Their protest temporarily stopped traffic along the road.

According to the students, motorists speed past the school’s entrance due to malfunctioning traffic lights, resulting in multiple near-miss incidents. Some of the protesting kids called on the government to act immediately to prevent more fatalities.

Our security guard has died since there isn’t a traffic signal here. We want the administration to act quickly.
