Offin Shelter Belt Forest Reserve Joint Operation Led by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and the Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the forestry commission, and security agencies have begun to crack down on illegal miners who are working in the Offin Shelter Belt Forest Reserve in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The confiscation of 15 excavators as a result of the combined operation is a major step in safeguarding Ghanaโ€™s waterways and forest reserves.

The governmentโ€™s dedication to protecting the nationโ€™s natural resources was underlined by Minister Buah, who has been leading the charge against illicit mining.

His initiatives are a component of a larger plan to encourage sustainable growth and guarantee that mining operations are carried out in an ecologically conscious way.

It is abundantly evident from the excavatorsโ€™ seizure that the government will no longer put up with illicit mining operations. By their actions, the ministers have shown that they are firmly committed to preserving Ghanaโ€™s natural resources and environment for coming generations.

Promoting sustainable mining practices requires collaboration from all parties involved as the government continues to crack down on illicit mining. Supporting lawful mining operations, disclosing illicit activity, and promoting laws that put environmental preservation first are all examples of this.

Ghanaians should anticipate more projects aimed at conserving the nationโ€™s natural resources as a result of the governmentโ€™s heightened emphasis on environmental conservation. The governmentโ€™s dedication to the cause is a positive step in the continuous battle against illicit mining.
